Sunderban means The Beautiful forest and the meaning has been proven true by the mother nature for this place.The best choice for any of the Tiger loving person to have the glimpse of the mighty animal is Sunderban National Park. Sunderban National Park is situated at the South Eastern part of 24 Parganas District of West Bengal. Sunderban is the part of world’s largest delta made by the river Ganges(Ganga) and Brahamputra and Meghna. The Indian Sunderban covers the area of 4624 sq. Km which is the largest area for Tiger Reserve in India. The name Sunderban is because of the mangrove plants known as Sundari.

The park has attracted not even the common people but also the Bollywood also as any film centered the Bengal Tiger is incomplete without The Sunderban National Park. The Royal Bengal Tigers displays a unique characteristic of swimming in the saline waters. Tigers can be seen on the river banks sunbathing between November and February.

The Mammals diversity:

The Royal kingdom of the Bengal Tiger has provided everything to the visitors to fulfill their lives with the ecstasy and amusement. The park is home to more than 400 tigers, Fishing Cats, Leopard Cats, Macaques, Wild Boar, Indian Mongoose, Fox, Jungle Cat, Flying Fox, Pangolin and Cheetal.

The Birds diversity:

The Park boasts its variety for its habitat for rare and astounding birds like  are openbill storks, black-capped kingfishers, black-headed ibis, water hens, coots, pheasant-tailed jacanas, pariah kites,brahminy kite, marsh harriers, swamp partridges, red junglefowl, spotted doves, common mynahs, jungle crows, jungle babblers, cotton teals, herring gulls, Caspian terns, gray herons etc.

The Aquatic Diversity:

Sunderbans provide you the variety of water living creatures which are crocodiles, snakes, sawfish, butter fish, electric rays, silver carp, starfish, common carp, horseshoe crabs, prawn, shrimps, Gangeticdolphins,skipping frogs, common toads and tree frogs etc.

The average temperature of the Sundarbans area is 20 °C- 48 °C drenched with heavy rainfalls and humidity as 80% as it is close to the Bay of Bengal. Monsoons can be experienced here during the months of mid-June to mid-September.

Best Season to visit:

During winters i.e. between December and February because at this time maximum migrant birds are also present here otherwise the park is open from September to March.
